Working with Our Community Kitchen Garden

27th June 2024

The Standards Commission has signed up to a Social Impact Pledge, aimed at increasing the social impact of public sector organisations in Scotland.

As part of its pledge, Standards Commission staff give back to the community by spending a day working for a charity. On 25 June 2024, staff spent the day working for Our Community Kitchen, in their garden in Haddington. Our Community Kitchen provides relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by creating a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, providing hearty food, offering opportunities to connect by bringing people together thereby reducing isolation, and offering a range of social activities.

Staff really enjoyed the day and very much hope their contribution made a difference. Thank you to Our Community Kitchen for the excellent lunch!

More information on Our Community Kitchen can be found on their Facebook page. More information on the Social Impact Pledge can be found on the Communities Channel Scotland website.
